Feedback to the European Commission on Strengthening EU Leadership in Green and Digital Trade

June 2025

Our feedback responds to the European Commission’s initiatives on the new Bioeconomy Strategy and the Single Market strategy, proposing a green-digital trade framework to strengthen EU competitiveness and sustainability. Developed by the DigitalTrade4.EU consortium, the document recommends leveraging digital tools like Digital Product Passports (DPPs), advancing interoperable standards (e.g., MLETR, eIDAS 2.0), deepening EU–Asia partnerships through DEPA, and linking trade finance to ESG performance. These actions aim to create a seamless, data-driven Single Market that supports circularity, empowers SMEs, and positions the EU as a global leader in sustainable trade.
